Languages and translation work have always fascinated me. Specializing in economy in the Germersheim Department of Applied Linguistics and Cultural Studies (FASK), I completed my graduate translation studies in French, Italian and English at the University of Mainz in 2000.

After receiving my degree, I worked in a large translation agency for five years. My tasks primarily included the translation and quality assurance of prepared internal and external translations of EU legislation. The translations were commissioned by the European Union and thereby the highest requirements were applied to the translation quality. The extensive range of topics (environmental, energy, traffic/transportation, food/nutrition, telecommunications, construction, fire safety, agriculture/fishery, shipping) involved in-depth research and required the ability to quickly familiarize oneself with complex, specialized subject matter. During this time, I was able to acquire extensive knowledge in numerous areas.

Another focus of my work as an employed translator involved demanding economic texts. As Key Translator for Finance, I was the contact for clients as well as for internal and external translators regarding questions about translation projects within the financial sector.

Since 2005, I have been working as a freelance translator for international companies, banks, administrations as well as for agencies in Germany and abroad. You can find out more about my areas of expertise under Services.
